USC Penland HVAC Replacement

60,000 ft²

The University of South Carolina at Aiken engaged the services of ING for a comprehensive HVAC renovation of a two-story, 60,000 ft² building accommodating classrooms, offices, and laboratories. Our company developed a meticulous plan to revamp the entire Variable Air Volume (VAV) system in four well-coordinated phases, ensuring minimal disruption to the students and faculty during their coursework. This project posed additional complexities, including the extraction and replacement of all significant air handling equipment located in a rooftop penthouse with limited access points, as well as the challenge of enhancing ventilation rates without expanding the footprint of the existing equipment.
